The Mayfly. Nothing stirs the flyfisher's imagination more than this family
of insects. Their place in fly fishing folklore long establised, new generations
of anglers continue to be introduced, to what is the 'ballet' of the insect
world.
Every night
the priveleged few get to see yet another performance in this never ending
play. With the fisherman themselves being mere bit part actors, the trout
major benefactors, it is the mayfly alone that commands centre stage, and rightfuly
so.
Their beauty is unrivalled. Their importance unquestioned. Their fragility
is a constant a reminder to all of us that life is precious and fleeting, each
moment to be enjoyed and savoured, like a fine wine or a particularly beautiful
sunset.
Below you will find a few of the hundreds of insect shots that never made
it onto the website this past year. Enjoy them. The new season is but weeks
away and I am almost about to hatch myself.
